Michele B. is an advocate of informed choice, disability rights, equity, and inclusion for people with disabilities. She has utilized her counseling psychology background throughout her career to help children, youth, and adults achieve their personal goals and wellness. Michele B. graduated from Arcadia University in 2008 and went on to obtain her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology, with a concentration in Child and Family Therapy, in 2011. She is also a Certified Community Partner Work Incentive Counselor (CPWIC).
Michele B. began her career at the local non-profit, AHEDD, before joining Leahy Life Plan. She provided benefits counseling and job coaching services to individuals living with Intellectual Disabilities, Autism, mental health impairments, and physical disabilities. She saw to fruition the Kessler Grant that Michele Leahy spearheaded, and continued to manage the PEW grant and other funding sources over several funding cycles, serving over 400 youth and adults with disabilities during her 11 year tenure. Michele B. is a technical expert on navigating work and government benefits.
Michele B. has Muscular Dystrophy and has used a power wheelchair for mobility for over 20 years. She works and lives independently in the community with waiver supports and services, and enjoys spending time with her kitties, Georgie and Charlie, visiting friends and family, and playing Defense on the Philadelphia Flyers Power Hockey team.
