James is a Spinal Cord Injury Survivor and dedicated advocate for the Disability Community. He fights for inclusion and the protections enacted by the Americans with Disabilities Act. James has used his 34 years of disability experience to teach individuals and families how to maximize their health and achieve independence. He has competed in wheelchair sports, volunteered with multiple organizations, and dedicated his life to mentoring, particularly those living with disabilities. James believes the greatest gift you can give is your time and sharing real-life experiences.
James graduated from Full Sail University with a degree in Recording Engineering. After spending several years in the entertainment industry, he transitioned into the Nonprofit sector. At Suncoast Center for Independent Living, he provided career development, including job coaching and general disability assistance. James holds certifications as a Peer Mentor and Tobacco Cessation Treatment Specialist. Prior to joining Leahy Life Plan, he spent five years with John Hancock Life Insurance. James worked with families, helping them prepare for their long-term financial security and retirement benefits. His expertise is in servicing life insurance, annuity, and long-term disability policies. He is dedicated to protecting financial resources and securing benefits for individuals and their futures.
Originally from Florida and now residing in Georgia, in his leisure time, James enjoys nature, swimming, volunteering, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. He has volunteered with organizations and research projects such as Life Rolls On, United Spinal Association, Emory College of Medicine, University of Pittsburgh, and TIRR Memorial Hermann Rehabilitation & Research.
